Gentle Giant - Think of Me With Kindness Chords

This is such a beautiful and melodic song  - one of my favorite Gentle Giant tunes.  Enjoy!

Intro:
Dm  Eb F Dm | Gm F

 Bb           Cm(11)     |  Bb/D                 Eb9
Why am I using words, no more to say without you
Bb/F         Eb/G     F/A     Bb          | Fsus4
Close the door, put out the lights and go.

| Dm  Eb  F |

Bb                Cm(11)    | Bb/D                    Eb9
Late at night, in the night your shadow falls between us.

Nevermore,    never know.

There, memories are sorrow,
Gm               F
When there's no tomor-
Bb/D  EbMaj7  F | Bb/D  EbMaj7  F ***
-row.

*** This pattern comes up a few times. For these three chords, the top notes should be F, D and C, respectively.

Ab/C   Gm/Bb              Fm/Ab  DbMaj7 |  Ab/C  Gm/Bb   Fm/Ab   DbMaj7
Sleep   while the sweet sorrow   wakes my day  -dream;
Ab/C   Gm/Bb
Sleep while you
 Ab                   |  Gm7               |   F                   |  Eb
think of me with kindness, please remember former days.
Ab                        | Gm7                   | F               | Eb
Sweet the song that once we sang, the silent parting ways.
Bbm/Db     |      Cm(11)
And you know, and you know,
Bb                     Cm(11) | Bb/D                    Eb9
And you know, long ago when first we made our promise -
Bb/F              Eb/G       F/A       Bb      Fsus4
Empty words, I wonder did you know -

Instrumental:
Bb  Cm(11) | Bb/D   Eb9 | Bb/F  Eb/G  Ab9 | Eb/Bb   Cm  Bb   Eb | Bbsus4

Note: The chords in this section are more or less just variations on the C pentatonic scale (C-Eb-F-G-Bb). If you play the melody with the two or three notes in this scale right underneath ir, it should sound fine. For example, a 'Bb' chord should be (Eb F G Bb), an 'Eb' should be (F G Bb Eb), etc. For your ease, I've written the notes in bold that are the melody in this section - these are NOT the chords.
 G   Bb    G   Bb    G      Bb  G  Eb
The laugh that love could not for-give,
G   Bb  G   Bb    G   Bb  G  Eb
Is gone and tells no more to live,
Bb   C   Bb  C    Bb  C   Bb   Eb
And we who look in bea-uty's love;
Bb     C      Bb       C   Bb  C     Bb  Eb
Must now, through all, look back on be-
Bb/D  EbMaj7  F | Bb/D  EbMaj7  F
fore -
 G   Bb    G   Bb   G    Bb   G  Eb
The tears that   I   first cried, no more;
 G    Bb    G     Bb   G    Bb    G  Eb
Your love has come and gone, no more.
Bb   C   Bb   C   Bb  C   Bb   Eb
And we who look in beau-ty's love
Bb       C   Bb      C   Bb     C   Bb Eb
Must now through all think back on be-
 Bb/D  EbMaj7  F | Bb/D  EbMaj7  F
-fore.

Ab/C   Gm/Bb              Fm/Ab  DbMaj7 |  Ab/C  Gm/Bb   Fm/Ab   DbMaj7
Sleep   while the sweet sorrow   wakes my day  -dream;
Ab/C   Gm/Bb
Sleep while you
 Ab                   |  Gm7               |   F                   |  Eb
think of me with kindness, please remember former days.

Bbm/Db     |      Cm(11)
And you know, and you know,
Bb                     Cm(11) | Bb/D                    Eb9
And you know, when we two parted in tears and silence
Bb/F            Eb/G   F/A       Bb    |  Fsus4
past the  days, the    parting ways.
Bb             Cm(11)        |        Bb/D                            Eb9
Fare thee well, fare thee well, you that was once dear to me.
Bb/F       Eb/G     F/A
Think of me with kindness

Think of me.

  1. Thanks so much. This is a great idea and it's a shame that the last post is from 2012. I will try to post as much as I can because I know we are not alone in the struggle to find chords.

    1. In the "C pentatonic scale" part, I suggest the following chords instead of two or three notes of the scale.

      Eb F Eb F Eb F Eb Ab
      The laugh that love could not for-give,

      every chords must be played simple major adding 2, and that's the sound!
